Ladies’ Circle Latvia (LCL) is a member of the international women’s organization Ladies’ Circle International (LCI), and its moto is “Friendship and Service”. Internationally this movement of women’s circles has been known for more than 65 years, and LCL has been operating in Latvia since 1992. In May 2017, we will celebrate 25th anniversary of LCL.

The international motto of the organization is “Friendship and Service”, and it describes the essence of the organization – to be friends and to be of service to the community. Members of LCI are women aged between 18 to 45 years who have come together with the aim to promote friendship, understanding and good will at international level, explore themselves and meet people in their own and other countries, participate in social activities and service. LCI is beyond religion and politics.

The first Ladies’ Circle was founded by the wives of the members of the men’s club Round Table in England, Bournemouth in 1932. Later, in 1947, a Ladies’ Circle was founded in Sweden, but after two years – ladies from Denmark joined the Ladies` Circle movement. The circles of the three countries founded the international organization Ladies’ Circle International in 1959. In 2014, LCI united 11 815 women in 27 countries all over of the world. The number of the members of LCI keeps growing each year.
